The 22nd Annual
Galveston Home & Garden Show will spring back to the Galveston Island
Convention Center at the San Luis Resort, March 13 & 14 and will
feature a full weekend of exhibits, and special presentations.
Benefiting the
Galveston Island Humane Society, the Galveston Home & Garden Show
promises to be bigger and better than ever! New exhibits, returning
popular exhibits, as well as informative and fun presentations by noted
professionals. More than 100 exhibitors will showcase the best materials
on the market and assist with your home recovery, renovation or new
construction. Show discounts will be offered at many vendor booths.
Back by popular
demand is The Lazy Gardener, Brenda Beust Smith, who will talk about
Gulf Coast gardening in a casual format designed to engage her audience
with practical hints on growing what’s easy. Brenda will share
cuttings from her yard at the end of her presentation. Connie Dryden,
Island Flowers, will let us in on the secret of making every day a special
occasion by enjoying flower arrangements at home and will show us how
simple it can be to plan for that special day. – more -

is the message from the Galveston Historical Foundation, US Green Building
Council and Blu Shields Construction. Come hear about GHF’s Green
Revival Program where they will rehabilitate a historic home, transforming
it to a model of sustainable technology utilizing 90 – 100% of
recycled or salvaged materials making it LEED Platinum Certified.

and past president of The Lafitte Society, Jim Nonus, will talk about
The Maison Rouge, home of Jean and Pierre Lafitte and the eventful summer
of 1818 and The Hurricane that flooded the Island September 13, one
hundred and ninety years to the day, before Hurricane Ike.
