PARK BOARD UPDATE.. GALVESTON ISLAND MULLET TOSS Mullet toss. A what? You ask. Yes, I said a mullet toss but no mullet has to be worn, nor do you have to grow a mullet, cut a mullet or wear a mullet wig. You must literally toss a mullet…the fish. The Galveston Island Convention & Visitors Bureau and The New 93Q Country are holding the most unique competition on the Texas coast. The grand competition will be held July 26 to raise funds for the Snowdrop Foundation BARTENDER OF THE MONTH When we head out for the night we often pick our favorite tavern to meet up with friends. But what makes a place “our bar”- is it the music in the jukebox, the entertainment or perhaps it is that person standing behind the bar serving you your most beloved cocktail? If it is the bartender- what is it about them that keeps pulling us back in for one more drink? Let’s find out what makes a bartender a keeper!

Galveston Historical Foundation
JULY 2008
The Galveston Historical Foundation launches its newest venture this month with the recent purchase of Galveston Island Tours, LLC. The tour company is a for profit subsidiary of GHF with a mission of bringing tour destination services to Galveston, Houston and the surrounding communities.
Galveston Island Tours (GIT) is a four year old business started by three entrepreneurs who saw an opportunity to enhance visitor services and tourist planning in Galveston. Their initial efforts were to offer custom tours of the island’s historic areas and museums for visitors, but it evolved quickly into a full service destination business. The business now offers transportation services for groups to the island, for example picking up a group at the airport and bringing to Galveston or bringing school groups to the historic sites in Galveston. They also can plan your family reunion or corporate business escape including tours, dining, museums and lodging.
SUPERB QUALITY MEETS ISLAND LIVING AT WATERMAN'S I love good food. And there are days when I love to “play dress up” and go in search of gourmet dining. But those days usually aren’t on Sunday afternoon on Galveston Island. Trust me the need for good food, good service and wonderful ambience is persistent. BUT..the urge to get out of my comfy island shirt and sandals after enjoying the beauty of Galveston during my mini-road trip on FM3005 – well that’s pretty nonexistent.
Therefore Waterman’s Steaks Seafood and Spirits remains the perfect solution to my problem. Waterman’s features top shelf food and drink. Plus it features some of the most spectacular bay views on the island. Moreover, you’re welcome on dress-up days, wedding party and “It’s Sunday - Let’s roll to the San Luis Pass for fun”days.
